
SATURDAY 29th OCTOBER, the launching of the Ringwood British Legion Poppy Appeal, a large audience for this opening event.
SUNDAY 13th NOVEMBER, as usual a well attended Remembrance Day Service in Burley village centre.
SATURDAY 19th NOVEMBER, another visit to Broadstone Methodist Church for a well attended concert.
FRIDAY DECEMBER 2nd, a Christmas Concert in the New Milton Conservative Club, a successful first appearance for us at this venue.
SATURDAY 3rd DECEMBER, carol playing outside the Meeting House in Ringwood, a long session but appreciated by the many Christmas shoppers.
SATURDAY 10th DECEMBER, another new venue for the band, A Programme of Christmas Music in St. Francis of Assissi Church in Charminster, a well attended and very successful evening at a first class venue.
TUESDAY 13th DECEMBER, an appearance at the Conservative Club in Ringwood for their Annual Christmas Draw event.
SATURDAY 17th DECEMBER, Our Annual Christmas Concert in Greyfriars, a well attended and enjoyable evening.
MONDAY 19th DECEMBER, our yearly visit to play carols in Burley village, this year in the Queen’s Head, as always a well attended evening.
SATURDAY 24th DECEMBER, our final event of the year, the Rotary Club’s Annual Father Christmas event in Ringwood Market Place.
Saturday 13th August we spent all day playing at the Ellingham Agricultural Show.
Sunday 14th August a concert on the cricket ground at Burley for the Burley branch of the British Legion to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the British Legion.
Sunday 11th September, Carnival Songs of Praise in Ringwood Parish Church.
Saturday 17th September, we were in our usual spot outside Greyfriars for Ringwood Carnival.
Friday 23rd September, we presented an invitation concert for all the sponsors of players and the band also our Vice-Presidents.
Sunday 25th September, we were playing throughout the day on our annual visit to the Caravan Show at Beaulieu.
Saturday 8th October, the band assisted by the Ringwood and Fordingbridge Lions Club and Ringwood Tuesday Club promoted a Concert in the Barrington Theatre in Ferndown, a well attended event and successful evening for the band.
Saturday 15th October, Oceana sailaway at Southampton.

A new sponsorship deal was set up in their offices in Ringwood High Street by the Ringwood Branch of the Co-operative Funeral Service with the Ringwood and Burley Band on Tuesday March 29th members of the branches staff, Funeral Co-ordinator Mr. Yorky Tuke, Funeral Director Mr. Ray Chalmers and Funeral Co-ordinator Ms. Tracy Witt presented the Band Chairman Mr. Tony Mist with a cheque for £500, other members of the band at the presentation were John Tamplin, John Haywood, Noel Smart, Ray Alexander, Peter Harris and the Secretary of the band Mrs. Christine Harris.
When presenting the cheque Mr. Tuke said the sponsorship would be initially for one year but he hoped the arrangement would be ongoing and that their association with the band would be beneficial to both parties by bringing the companies services to the attention of people in the area and would also help the band in a financial way.
Mr. Tuke is also an active member of the Ringwood and Fordingbridge Lions Club and in this capacity he has helped set up sponsorship of some of the band playing members under the "Sponsor a Player Scheme:
Mr. Mist thanked the company representatives for the cheque and said he looked forward to a long association with them and hoped that there would be ways they could be of service to the company.
After a busy Christmas period comprising concerts and carol playing at various venues we commenced our new year programme with participation in the Annual Ibsley Airfield Society Memorial Service in Ringwood Parish Church.
On Saturday 12th March we performed a concert in the Broadstone Methodist Church, this was an excellent new venue for the band and the evening was well supported and enjoyed by the audience.
Our only engagement in May was an appearance at the Greyfriars pre-school Groups Celebration Garden Party when the band played a short programme of music mostly for the benefit of the children.
Our first cruise liner playaway of the season on 25th June when we were on the dockside at Southampton to play the Ventura away on her voyage to the Mediterranean.
On July 1st the band presented an evening of Brass on the Grass on the lawn at Greyfriars Centre, a fine evening with a large and appreciative audience.
Saturday 9th July we were again at Southampton on a fine and warm afternoon to play the Oceana away on her voyage.
The Chairman of the Ringwood and Burley Band Mr. Tony Mist welcomed Ringwood Town Mayor, Councillor Christine Ford, Councillor Michael Thierry, representatives of our sponsors The Raymond Brown Group of Companies and The Ringwood Brewery, Vice-Presidents and supporters and members of the band to the 131st Annual General Meeting of the band.
The Chairman thanked the outgoing committee for all their hard work and also our sponsors, vice presidents and members for their support, he mentioned that he had served the band as chairman for the past 21 years and this had been a very good year, he felt the band was very much a family affair with a hard working, happy and enthusiastic atmosphere, he expressed his thanks to the Ringwood Lions Club and the Tuesday Club of Ringwood for their help in the organisation, publicity and presenting the Barrington Theatre concert in Ferndown and also Mr. John Rayner of Wilton Britsh Legion Band for their assistance during the year.
Treasurer Mr. Vernon Riordan reported an increase in income from engagements also from the sponsorship scheme which was a great help with 25 members of the band being sponsored by individuals and businesses, but he did warn that many of our outgoings were increasing and there was a need for new ideas on fund raising.
Our Supporters Club have been a great help to the band over the year and Mrs. Margaret Mist was thanked for all the work she does in running the club, funds are raised by a weekly draw for members and supporters and they support the band in many practical and financial ways.
Mr. Peter Harris reporting for the Trustees said that the equipment was in good condition with a programme of servicing and cleaning instruments in progress and he thanked his colleague Mr. John Tamplin for all the work he carries out on behalf of the band.
Mr. Bernard Lawson the Musical Director of the band in his address thanked the band for their hard work in what had been a good year of consolidation and felt that a great deal of improvement had been made on the performance side in quality and in the range of our repertoire, the membership of the band had increased to 28 with just a few more needed to complete a full band, he congratulated the young members of the band on the progress they had made over the year, the band had fulfilled a large range of engagements, ranging from bandstand performances, cruise ship playaways, concerts in Ringwood and West Moors, a charity concert at the Mormon Church in Bournemouth in aid of the Haiti Earthquake Fund and the very successful concert in the Barrington Theatre in Ferndown, we undertook 17 engagements plus a variety of events over the Christmas period. The Chairmans’s Cup was presented to Mr. Tony Gurd and the Lister Cup to Mr. Peter Harris
In his report Mr. Noel Smart the Bandmaster and Duty Conductor reiterated Mr. Lawson’s views on the progress of the band and thanked the band for their support he also thanked Mr. John Rayner of the Wilton British Legion.
